Akshay Kumar took to social media on Saturday and shared a video message for his fans, in which he said that the problem of drugs exists in Bollywood but not every celebrity is involved in it. Akshay Kumar said that ever since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, there are several issues that have surfaced which have caused them (celebrities) as much pain as it has caused to their fans.
Akshay Kumar, in his video message, said, “In muddon ne hume apne khud ke girebaan mein jhaankne ko majboor kia hai. Humari film industry ki aisi bhot khaamiyon ko dekhne pe majboor kia hai jinpe dhyaan jaana bohot zyada zaroori hai. Jaise narcotics aur drugs ke baare mein aaj kal baat ho rahi hai, mai aaj kaise dil pe haath rakh ke ye kaise bol du ki ye problem exist nahi karti. Zaroor karti hai. Vaise hi jaise har industry, har profession mein hoti hogi magar industry ka har ek insaan usmein involved ho aisa nahi ho sakta. (These issues that have surfaced have forced all of us to look into ourselves and introspect. It has also forced us to look such problems of the film industry that need attention, like narcotics and drug abuse. How can I say that this problem doesn’t exist in Bollywood? It does. But not every celebrity is involved in it.)
Talking about the legal authorities and how he has faith in them, Akshay Kumar said, “Drugs is a legal matter aur mujhe vishwaas hai ki ispe jo bhi action authorities le rahi hain, vo bilkul sahi hoga. Aur mai ye bhi jaanta hu ki film industry ka har insaan unke saath poori tarah cooperate karega. Par please haath jodke kehta hoon ki aisa mat karo na ki poori industry ko ek hi badnaam nazron se dekho. Ye sahi nahi hai. Ye toh galat hai. (I have trust in the authorities that they will arrive at the correct decision and I also know that every celebrity will cooperate. But I join my hands and request you not to look at the entire industry with a negative perspective. This is wrong).”
Talking about how he believes in the power of media, Akshay Kumar said that he wants them to continue raising their voice but do it in a sensitive manner since even one negative piece can ruin somebody’s entire career.
Akshay Kumar shared the message with the caption, “Bahot dino se mann mein kuch baat thi lekin samajh nahi aa raha tha kya kahoon, kisse kahoon. Aaj socha aap logon se share kar loon, so here goes… #DirectDilSe ”
Akshay Kumar’s video comes at a time when several Bollywood stars including Deepika Padukone, Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor are under the scanner for alleged drug consumption. The NCB is probing the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Raghava Lawrence’s horror-comedy Laxmmi Bomb. The film will release on Disney+Hotstar on November 9. He returned to Mumbai last night after shooting for Bell Bottom in Scotland.
