Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said Thursday that farmers from Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat have sent him a letter in support of the Farm Law Center. His comment came after he had held a meeting with a delegation of 60 farmers belonging to Kisaan Majdoor Sangh from Baghpat.
Speaking to the media after the conference, the Minister said, “Baghpat Farmers have sent me a letter in support of the Center’s Farm Laws. They told me that the governor could not crumble under any pressure to make improvements to the Farm bills.”
This meeting with the representatives of Kisaan Majdoor Sangh took place on the 29th day of the farmers’ protest against the three controversial farm laws. Thousands of farmers have protested against the administration, blocking numerous boundaries in Delhi, including Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur and Chilla in Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-Uttar Pradesh.
The agriculture minister also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying, “Whatever Rahul Gandhi says, even Congress doesn’t take it seriously. Today when he went to register his protest with President with signatures, these farmers told me that no one from Congress came to them to get their signature.”
