The World Health Organization has warned that fewer vaccinations and testing are giving many new Kovid variants a chance to flourish. The organization’s director-general Tedros Adhonam Ghebreyesus said the travel restrictions would not stop the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, but would affect people’s lives and livelihoods.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, Mr. Gabriasis said that the Omicron variant has been found in 23 countries and this number is expected to increase.
The WHO chief said that the organization is trying to find out more about this variant, but there is still a lot to know about its effect on the spread of infection, the severity of the disease and the testing and efficacy of the vaccine.
