Five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters today in Shopian district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were gunned down by the security forces this morning in an encounter that was going on since last evening in Tulran village of Imam Saheb area of Shopian district, police said.
Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that one terrorist, identified as Mukhtar Shah of Ganderbal, was living in Shopian after killing Virendra Paswan, a street vendor from Bihar, on the outskirts of Srinagar city a few days ago. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists.
Meanwhile, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in another encounter in Pheripora area of Shopian district today.
