The Congress government in Rajasthan is in trouble even before Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot filed his nomination for the post of party president. Last night, more than 90 Congress and independent MLAs supporting Gehlot submitted their resignations to the Speaker of the Assembly CP Joshi. These MLAs are opposing the name of Sachin Pilot as the new Chief Minister of the state.
Cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas claimed 92 MLAs were in favor of Gehlot. He said that there is dissatisfaction among the legislators. Without naming Sachin Pilot, Khachariyawas said the MLAs were against handing over power to a leader who had rebelled earlier.
He said that the high command has decided to give its verdict without the opinion of the MLAs, which is not right. He was asked to pass a one-line resolution that the chief minister’s decision would be taken by the high command. However, when asked whether the government was going to fall, he denied it. He said that the government does not fall like this.
