Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot once again said that he wants to leave the post of Chief Minister, but this post is not leaving him. Along with this, he claimed himself to be a ‘bigger fakir’ than Prime Minister Modi. He also said at a function organized at Birla Auditorium that whatever decision the Congress high command takes, it will be acceptable to him. Gehlot had also said on August 3 that he sometimes thinks of leaving the post of chief minister, but he is not leaving this post.
The Chief Minister said once again on Monday, ‘I think many times that I should leave the post of Chief Minister, but this post is not leaving me.’ Gehlot said, ‘If I spoke this (above), then I spoke after thinking. … It comes to my mind many times to leave this post … Why it comes, is a mystery.
But whatever decision the high command takes, I will accept it. One should have the courage to say that I want to leave the post, but this post is not leaving me. Gehlot’s statement assumes significance in the backdrop of his old tussle with former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and efforts for reconciliation between the two by the Congress high command during the last few months. The Congress leadership has also indicated that no face will be declared for the post of Chief Minister in the upcoming assembly elections. Rajasthan assembly elections are to be held in November-December this year.
