Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, passed away today. He was undergoing treatment at the Command Hospital in Bangalore.
Varun Singh, who suffered 80 percent burns in the helicopter accident, was earlier treated at the Wellington Military Hospital in Coonoor. In the year 2004, he joined the National Defense Academy.

Expressing deep condolences, President Ram Nath Kovind said that despite being badly injured in the accident, Captain Singh displayed indomitable courage and bravery. The nation will always be indebted to him.
