Following its debacle in the Gujarat Assembly polls, the Congress on Friday said its performance has been “extremely disappointing” and it is time to take a tough call on the local leadership. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also claimed that the Congress’ fight in Gujarat was with the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as its “unofficial constituents” of the alliance, the AIMIM and the Aam Aadmi Party.
He said, “Our vote percentage is 27. It has come down from 40 percent. 27 percent vote is not less and it can reach 40 percent in an election. Ramesh said, “We are not making any excuses. It is a time for introspection, a time to unite.
It is time to bring in new leadership. There are issues in Gujarat. He also said that now is the time to take tough decisions regarding the local leadership. He said that the campaign was launched by the state leadership. The BJP got 156 seats in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly with a vote share of 52.5 per cent.
