The Allahabad High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Masjid case till July 6. After hearing the petition filed by Anjuman Intejamiya Masjid of Varanasi and others, Justice Prakash Padia fixed July 6 as the next date of hearing.
It may be mentioned that the original suit was filed in the district court of Varanasi in the year 1991, seeking restoration of the ancient temple in Varanasi where the Gyanvapi Mosque exists.
The petitioners challenged the April 8 order in the Allahabad High Court, saying the order of the Varanasi court was illegal and beyond its jurisdiction.
