India has concurred to diversify space cooperation with Italy by tapping prospects in earth observation, space science, robotics and human exploration, the state-run Indian Space Agency said Thursday.
“At a bilateral meeting in virtual mode with the Italian Space Agency (ISA) on Wednesday, we have agreed to form thematic working groups to work on earth observation, space science and robotic and human exploration,” said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in a statement here.
The digital conference was chaired by ISRO Chairman K. Sivan and ISA President Giorgio Saccoccia.
Broadening space collaboration with Italy comes shortly after India launched the 637kg Brazilian Amazonia-1 satellite on board the PSLV-C51 rocket from the ISRO Space Port in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, about 90km northeast of Chennai, on 28 February.
Brazil’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Marcos Pontes, who encountered the launch at the Space Port, granted to reinforce space ties with India.
“Brazil has requested India’s support in procurement of material and systems for its launch vehicle programme,” said the statement.
Collaboration in space missions using the final leg of the ISRO polar satellite launch vehicle (PLSV) orbital portal for weather research was addressed at a conference with the Brazilian committee.
