India Block, Lalu Yadav supported Mamata

The political situation in India is changing rapidly, especially with regard to the position of the Congress within the India Block. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she is ready to lead this alliance. In support of her statement, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has said that she should be given a chance to lead this anti-BJP alliance. Lalu clearly said that Congress’ objections will not have any effect on his statement and Mamata should lead.

In the wake of this statement of Lalu Prasad, his son and senior RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has also supported Mamata Banerjee, saying that he has no objection to any senior leader of the India Block taking the leadership. However, he also said that such a decision should be taken by consensus. Those supporting Mamata’s leadership also include leaders of Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Samajwadi Party. Recently, Mamata Banerjee had expressed her disappointment on a TV channel that there are serious problems regarding leadership and coordination in the alliance. She said, “If I get a chance, I will ensure the smooth functioning of this alliance.”

Meanwhile, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has made a controversial comment regarding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s proposed Mahila Samvad Yatra from December 15. He said, “It is good if he is going to… he is going to warm his eyes.” When Nitish was claiming that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win 225 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Lalu said that first he needs to warm his eyes.
