India reports 300,000 new Covid cases and 2,023 deaths

With a daily increase of 295,041 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 15,321,089 on Tuesday to 15,616,130 – a 1.9 percent increase. The death toll has risen to 182,553, with 2,023 people killed, the most in a single day so far.

India has added 1,742,305 cases in the last 7 days, making it the second-most affected country in terms of active cases, total cases, and recovery, and fourth in terms of death.

India now accounts for 11.77 percent of all active cases worldwide (one out of every eight active cases), as well as 5.97 percent of all deaths (one in every 17 deaths).

So far, India has vaccinated 130,119,310 people. This represents 833.62 percent of its total caseload and 9.3553 percent of its population.
Maharashtra (17688837), Rajasthan (16204121), Uttar Pradesh (15774485), Gujarat (14761113), and West Bengal are the top five Indian states in terms of vaccine shots administered (13335374).

Kerala (246569), Gujarat (231103), Chhattisgarh (221182), Delhi (201302), and Rajasthan are the top five states in terms of vaccine shots per million population among states with more than 10 million people (199970).

Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India arrived in four days. The number of active cases in India increased by 125,561 on Tuesday, compared to 102,648 the previous day. Karnataka (17074), Kerala (15669), Uttar Pradesh (15021), Rajasthan (8930), and Delhi have seen the greatest daily net increase in active cases (8688).

With 167,457 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate is 85.01 percent, while the fatality rate has dropped to 1.17 percent.

Punjab (2.60 percent), Sikkim (2.00 percent), and Maharashtra currently have the highest case fatality rates in India (1.57 percent ). In as many as 15 cases, the rate is higher than the national average.

Overall, Maharashtra (62097), Uttar Pradesh (29574), Delhi (28395), Karnataka (21794), and Kerala have the highest 24-hour increase in total cases (19577).
