Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane Gifts Over 1 Lakh Covid Vaccines To Bangladesh Army

In a goodwill gesture to carry forward the bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh, General MM Naravane, chief of the Indian Army, handed over 100,000 COVID-19 vaccines to his Bangladeshi counterpart, General Aziz Ahmed, who thanked India for its commendable cooperation in assisting his country in combating the coronavirus pandemic.

General Naravane is in Dhaka at the invitation of his superior, General Ahmed. The visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the neighboring country less than two weeks ago.

The two generals discussed future mutual cooperation and good relations between the two countries’ armed forces during their meeting, according to the Dhaka Tribune. The implementation of the Border Road Organization, training of Army pilots, exchange of defense experts and trainers, and mutual defence cooperation were all discussed, according to the statement.

Gen Naravane handed over 100,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Gen Ahmed of Bangladesh. According to the report, Gen Aziz expressed gratitude for India’s commendable cooperation in assisting Dhaka in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Gen Aziz hoped India would support Bangladesh in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

Earlier, Gen Naravane paid tributes to the fallen heroes of Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War after arriving in the country on a five-day visit to further strengthen the close and fraternal ties existing between the Armed Forces of the two nations.

The year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of India-Bangladesh diplomatic relations, the liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistan and the birth centenary of ”Bangabandhu” Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
