Due to the roaring batting of young batsman Abhishek Sharma, England had to face defeat by 7 wickets in the first match of the 5 T20I match series. Sharma completed his fifty in just 20 balls while chasing the target of 133 runs given by England. After this, he was in no mood to stop and was seen thrashing the English team bowlers in the desired way. He scored 79 runs in his 34-ball innings, which included 8 sixes and 5 fours. With his rapid batting, he tore apart the bowling of England. India is now ahead 1-0 in this series. The second match of the series will be played in Chennai on Saturday.
Before Sharma, his opening partner Sanju Samson played a short but attractive innings of 26 runs. Sanju scored 22 of these 26 runs in a single over of Gus Atkinson. Sanju was out in the 5th over, while captain Suryakumar Yadav (0) was also out without opening the account in the same over of Jofra Archer.
But this had no effect on Abhishek at the other end. He continued to score runs from one end. When he was out in the 12th over of the innings, India was just 8 runs away from victory. In the end, Tilak Verma (19*) along with Hardik Pandya (3*) completed the rest of the work.
Earlier today, India won the toss and decided to field first. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh proved this decision right by getting the wicket of Phil Salt (0) in the very first over. In his next over, Arshdeep also got Ben Duckitt (4) out. England’s team was able to score only 46 runs in the powerplay.
