In a significant move, the Indian Railways has reduced the advance ticket booking period from 120 days to 60 days. This decision was taken by the national transporter to streamline its operations and improve the availability of tickets for passengers.

Previously, passengers were able to book their train tickets up to 120 days in advance. However, this long booking period often led to the early exhaustion of tickets, leaving many passengers without the desired train tickets.

The reduction in the advance booking period from 120 days to 60 days is expected to address this issue and make more tickets available for last-minute bookings. This change will provide more flexibility to the passengers and ensure better utilization of the available train berths and seats.

The decision to reduce the advance booking period is part of the Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance its passenger services and improve the overall travel experience. By making the booking process more streamlined, the national transporter aims to cater to the growing demand for train travel more efficiently.

This move is expected to benefit both regular commuters and occasional travelers alike, as it will increase the chances of securing train tickets, especially during peak travel seasons. The reduced booking period will also help the railways to better manage its inventory and optimize the utilization of its resources.

The implementation of this new policy is likely to be rolled out in the coming days, and passengers are advised to plan their train travel accordingly. The Indian Railways’ decision to reduce the advance booking period is being viewed as a positive step towards enhancing the overall efficiency and accessibility of the country’s rail network.
