Virat Kohli scored a century almost three years later and his 122 helped India register a 101 run win against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup formality match. Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 122 runs in 61 balls with the help of 12 fours and six sixes, on the basis of which India scored 212 for two.
Disappointed by the close defeat in the previous match against Pakistan, Afghanistan batsman Bhuvneshwar Kumar could not face the swing bowling. Bhuvneshwar took five wickets for just four runs in four overs.
Afghanistan’s score at one point was six for 21 and in 20 overs they made 111 for eight.
Earlier, Kohli brought the first century after November 2019 and the 71st of his career. With this, he equaled Ricky Ponting in terms of international centuries and is now behind Sachin Tendulkar.
