On Thursday India marking a significant breakthrough with as many as one million people got vaccinated against COVID-19 in just one day. The vaccine was administered to some 10,93 lakh persons by 7 p.m., with the sum of 1.77 crore since the beginning of the campaign on 16 January.
The nation has accelerated the vaccination drive from healthcare and front-line personnel to elderly over 60 and over 45 with illnesses, whilst developing rules for immunizing people in private hospitals.
As per the Ministry of Health of the Union, 85.51 per cent of fresh cases are reported in Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.
Over the last 24 hours there’s been a total of 17,407 new infections.
The largest daily cases were registered by Maharashtra at 9,855. This is the largest number since 10,259 new cases were recorded in October 18.
Kerala followed by 2765 while 772 new cases have been recorded in Punjab. The Ministry has said the absolute amount of SARS-CoV-2 cases worldwide with the UK, South Africa and Brazil as at present was also about 242.
The overall active workload of India COVID-19 accumulated to 1.73.413, that represented 1.55% of the total Indian cases.
