After a gap of 23 years, on this year’s International Women’s Day, Indian Navy has deployed four women warfare officers.
“Four woman officers of the Indian Navy have recently been deployed to warships. Two of them are on the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier, while two of them are on the Indian naval tank.
It was in 1998 that lady officers were on board a warship. However, the decision was examined after problems arose in the short postings.
The scientist, who told her the Indian Navy has given her the chance to act as both a doctor and aboard warship, was amongst the women officers on the tanker vessel INS Shakti.
“We serve with our male colleagues shoulder to shoulder,” said the cop.
The Indian Navy declared just a few years earlier, on its warship to ready vessels for lady officers, it had beefed up separate cabins and toilets for woman officers.
The Indian Navy on Monday also said women’s officers are posted for defence in foreign posts. The first lady officer to be posted as the DA is Lieutenant Commander Karabi Gogoi.
