J&K Polls: Good turnout in 4th phase of Panch, Sarpanch bypolls

State Election Commissioner K.K. Sharma said on Tuesday that 63.08 per cent and 59.71 per cent of the vote had been registered in the fourth phase of Panch and Sarpanch bypolls in Jammu & Kashmir on Monday.

Sharma said that the vacancy in Panch seats had taken place in 215 electoral districts in the fourth process. A total of 33,188 voters (including 17,292 males and 15,896 females) of which 20,936 voted in the by-elections.

The division of Jammu reported 82.29% and the division of Kashmir recorded 62.31%.

Similarly, 59,71 per cent of the votes cast were registered in vacant Sarpanch seats in 50 electoral districts in which 40,158 electors voted to elect their representatives. 76.53% of the vote was registered in the Jammu division, while 46.23% of the vote was registered in the Kashmir division.

Sharma said that the Kishtwar district of Jammu had the highest turnout for Panch bypolls of 97.59 per cent followed by Jammu with 84.19 per cent and Doda with 83.73 per cent. Similarly, the district of Budgam
