The ‘Love Jihad’ law which was passed in UP a month back, has made a total of 51 arrests of which 49 are in prison in just in one month.
According to the reports, 13 of these 14 cases refer to Hindu children. In these cases, efforts have been made to forcibly convert them to Islam. Out of these 14 incidents, there were only two complaints from all of them.
The anti-conversion order was approved by UP Governor Anandiben Patel on 27 November. According to the results, three cases have been reported in Bijnor, two in Shahjahanpur. In addition, cases have been reported in the districts of Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, Mau, Sitapur, Hardoi, Etah, Kannauj, Azamgarh and Moradabad. There is also a situation in which the victim woman has not yet been tracked.
In the other hand, out of the total cases, there are eight cases in which the pair identified themselves as friends of one another or claimed they were in a relationship. A couple even said they were dating. There is also an instance of a heavy conversion to Christianity. There was a lawsuit against three citizens in Azamgarh in this case.
One day after the ordinance came into effect, the first case was registered at the Deoranian Police Station in Bareilly, where Tikaram Rathore’s father alleged that Awais Ahmed (22) had attempted to force his daughter to convert her faith. The Bareilly Deoranian Police arrested Ahmed on 3 December following the filing of the case.
