Uttar Pradesh Police detained Mohammad Saeed on 19 December in Shahjahanpur District under the new anti-conversion rule. Saeed is said to have been blackmailing a 45-year-old woman by changing her faith and forcefully marrying her.
The police said that Saeed had posed as Sunil Kumar and had disguised his true identity when he first met the woman under the pretext of renting a room in her home. He took her number and began to speak to her daily. Time has elapsed, and an affair has begun between them. He promised her marriage and began sexual abuse of her. During that time, he clicked on several nude photos of her, which he later used to blackmail her.
Police Superintendent (City) Sanjay Kumar said that on December 10, Saeed pressed her to change her faith and marry him, which she declined to do. Then he aggressively got his signatures on the “nikahnama” (marriage contract).
Rajesh Awasthi, of Vishwa Hindu Paris, came forward to support her. He took her to the police department and protested against 12 people, including the qazi who had solemnised her marriage. The complaint against Saeed under the Prohi was registered
Police said the accused assaulted the woman at a gunpoint and snapped her pictures. “He even threatened to make viral images on social media. Later, the family members of Saeed also came here and continued to stay.” The police sent the woman for medical evaluation after she had reported the case. Saeed is reportedly absolving, and the police are making moves to apprehend him.
