In the aftermath of the explosive letter bomb dropped by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has demanded President’s rule in Maharashtra.

The Republican Party of India chief requested President’s Rule in Maharashtra in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Ramdas Athawale also tweeted, “The people of Maharashtra have lost faith in the state government on the issue of law and order. Therefore, the Republican Party’s demand letter to dismiss the state government and impose presidential rule in Maharashtra has been sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s office today.”
Athawale’s appeal comes just hours after BJP MPs made a similar demand in the Lok Sabha.
During Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, BJP member Manoj Kotak said that according to Singh’s letter to the chief minister, the state’s home secretary had ordered suspended Assistant Police Inspector (API) Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore from 1,742 bars and restaurants in the metropolis every month.

According to Kotak, the letter revealed that those in the government were using officials to collect money, but the chief minister has yet to say anything about it.
“It’s a serious situation. The home ministry should resign, as should the Maharashtra government, and there should be a CBI investigation into the whole situation “He said. According to BJP member Rakesh Singh, the problem is so serious that it cannot be classified as a state matter because it has national implications.
Singh claimed that the former police commissioner’s letter demonstrated that top Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress officials were engaged in illegally collecting large sums of money.
“The former police commissioner leveled the accusation against the state home ministry. What compelled the chief minister to defend an API-rank official who had been suspended for 16 years in a press conference? “He inquired.
Singh alleged that a senior state politician changed his stance after being told that it was a serious matter that should be investigated.
“What is it that you are afraid of? Is there any concern about leaking information about those who are let go? What is the total amount collected in Maharashtra if only Rs 100 crore is collected in Mumbai? “He inquired.
He ordered that the MVA government resign immediately and that an impartial investigation be conducted.
