On Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, acclaimed Odisha artist Manas Kumar Sahoo paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Sahoo made a sand sculpture of the Father of the Nation on the Marive Drive beach in Puri.
His sand art features a sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi with a message of world peace. He made a 10 feet sculpture of Gandhiji and inscribed beside it, “Let’s Pray For World Peace”.
To make the sculpture, Manas used five tons of sand and took nearly five hours to finish it.

Speaking to India Today of his artwork, Manas said, “Gandhiji has been fighting all his life for peace and non-violence. As we all know there is violence in the world all over. Gandhiji’s message is relevant at present. We all should unite and pray for world peace.”
Manas Kumar Sahoo is the first sand animator of India and his creations are acclaimed all across the world.
Born as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2, 1869, in Gujarat’s Porbandar, Mahatma Gandhi was a lawyer, politician, social activist and writer, who led the independence movement against British rule.
