Major terror attack averted in Delhi with the arrest of two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists

A major terror attack was averted in Delhi with the arrest of two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. The interrogation with the terrorists revealed that they belonged to Jammu and Kashmir and have been identified as Sanaullah Mir and Mohammed Ashraf Khatana. Delhi Police Special Cell made the arrests preventing a major terror attack in Delhi.

Both the militants were in their twenties. According to Delhi Police officials, a trap was laid near Millennium Park in Sarai Kale Khan around 10.15 pm on Monday night. “2 suspected militants who are residents of J&K have been apprehended along with 2 semi-automatic pistols and 10 live cartridges,” said police officials.

According to sources, the two suspected terrorists had previously attempted to go to Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which was foiled by the Indian Army. They were planning to escape to PoK via Nepal after the attack in Delhi.

Back in August, Delhi Police had foiled another such terror attack with the arrest of an Islamic State terrorist. Apart from the arrest, police had also recovered 15 kg Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the terror operative who was nabbed in Dhaula Kuan area.
