Over 50 shops were gutted in a massive fire at wholesale market Bhagirath Palace in Chandni Chowk in North Delhi. The police gave this information on Friday. Police said that the fire that broke out on Thursday evening has been brought under control and now the atmosphere is being cooled so that the fire does not flare up again. There is no news of any casualty in the incident so far.
Right now 22 fire tenders are engaged in cooling the atmosphere. After hard work, the fire was brought under control in more than 12 hours. The fire broke out in a shop in the market, which quickly spread to other shops, officials said. All the shops are of electrical appliances.
Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg said on Friday, “The fire has been brought under control. Right now 22 fire tenders are engaged in the cooling operation. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Fire officials said that due to weak infrastructure, lack of water and narrow lanes, the crew had to struggle a lot to douse the fire.
