In one of the worst cases of Love Jihad, a woman was trapped by a Muslim stalker in Lucknow. A woman from Madiyagaon lodged a complaint against Saiji Abbas, a resident of Vazirganj, and her family for alleged harassment after being held hostage, raped, humiliated, manipulated and abused. The woman said that after her husband died, Saiji Abbas had made friends with her, claiming to be Arjun. Later, he said he was Manoj.
Police said that the survivor is a Sitapur resident. She lives with her little son in a rented house.
The accused started to visit the victim’s house regularly, and the victim’s son began to call his aunt. She kept insisting on getting married. The victim came to realise that he was a Muslim when a few months back, Abbas and a few Burqa-clad women came to her neighbourhood. When the survivor declined to take Nikaah with him the women in his family threatened to defame her. The survivor was expected to execute nikaah. The nikaahnama was not signed, however. After Nikaah, Abbas began physically abusing her.
Victim had reservations about him when she heard ‘salam’ on the phone. The survivor said that if the accused made a call, the person on the other hand would always greet him with ‘salam.’ This used to confuse her with that. When she asked Abbas why he was welcomed with a ‘salam’ and if he was a Muslim, he would refute that. He used to say so several people entered his office and begged her not to hear his phone calls.
