Tokyo Olympics gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has become the first Indian to win the Zurich Diamond League Final 2022 in Switzerland. Neeraj Chopra won the Diamond League trophy last night with a throw of 88.4 meters in the second throw.
Czech Olympic silver medalist Jakob Vadlage finished second with a best throw of 86.9-4m. Germany’s Julian Weber threw 83.7-3m javelin to finish third.
Neeraj Chopra created a sensation by winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics last year. He became only the second Indian after Abhinav Brinda to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Apart from this, Neeraj is the first player from India to win gold in athletics. This year Neeraj did three big feats. He won the historic silver medal in the final of the World Athletics Championships on 24 July in Eugene, USA. During this, Neeraj got injured and did not participate in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
