New Zealand today passed a new security law that makes preparing for a terrorist attack a crime.
New Zealand Justice Minister Chris Fafoi said that the nature of terrorism has changed and that individuals around the world engage in such activities rather than large organized groups.
Parliament passed the new legislation after 32-year-old Sri Lankan national Athil Mohamed Shamsuddin stabbed seven people to death at a supermarket in Auckland earlier this month.
