Delhi Police has registered an FIR on complaints of former Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma receiving threats for her controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad.
The BJP on Sunday suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi-based media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal after strong objections were raised by some Muslim countries over his alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad. Since then the protest has increased.
Amid protests by Muslim organizations and a sharp reaction from countries like Kuwait, Qatar and Iran, the BJP issued a statement saying that it respects all religions and strongly condemns the insult to the revered people of any religion.
Following the action, Nupur Sharma unconditionally retracted her controversial statement made in the TV debate, claiming that her remarks came in response to “the constant insult and disdain of her Aradhya Mahadev”.
