The Central Government has banned the Popular Front of India-PFI and its affiliates and its affiliated groups for five years with immediate effect for indulging in illegal activities. The Ministry of Home Affairs in its notification said that PFI and its affiliates and its affiliates Rehab India Foundation, Campus Front of India, All India Imam Council, National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation, National Women Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab of Kerala Terrorist groups like Foundation are involved in violent terrorist activities in the country.
The notification also said that the government is of the view that if the illegal activities of PFI and its affiliated groups are not stopped immediately, they will continue their subversive activities in weakening the constitutional structure of the country and disturbing law and order. All these groups will work towards inciting anti-national sentiments by radicalizing a particular section of the society under a secret agenda.
Recently, the National Investigation Agency, the Enforcement Directorate and the police of several states carried out raids in several states on the premises of PFI in a joint operation. Several alleged PFI leaders and activists were arrested in this connection.
