PM dedicates 35 special quality crop varieties to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated 35 special quality varieties of crops to the nation through video conference today. He also dedicated the newly constructed campus of National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur to the nation. The Prime Minister presented Green Campus Awards to Agricultural Universities.

The Prime Minister referred to the locust attack in various states last year amid the Corona pandemic. He said that the government has taken effective measures and saved the farmers from the huge loss due to this. He said that 11 crore soil health cards have been issued for land conservation. The Prime Minister also spoke about several farmer friendly initiatives of the government. He mentioned measures like completion of about one hundred pending irrigation projects for water security of farmers and providing new varieties of seeds to farmers to protect crops from diseases.

The Prime Minister interacted with the farmers using new methods of farming. He asked Jetoon Begum of Ganderbal about her journey to learn innovative farming practices in Jammu and Kashmir.
