Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first phase of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. More than three thousand saints and officials were present on this occasion. The Prime Minister first reached the Kaal Bhairav temple, which is believed to be the protector of Kashi. He also offered prayers in the temple. After that the Prime Minister went to Kashi Vishwanath Dham with Ganga water via Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. The Prime Minister would see Ganga Aarti in the evening from Ro-Ro vessel.
Kashi Vishwanath Dham has been developed under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project in March 2019. With this project Kashi Vishwanath Temple has been directly connected to Ganga Ghat. In the first phase of the project, 23 buildings were inaugurated. Facilities like Passenger Facilitation Centre, Tourist Facilitation Centre, Vedic Centre, Museum, Visitors Gallery, Food Court etc. have been made available under this project. Provision has also been made for ramps, escalators, and other facilities, so that the differently-abled and the elderly can
easily have darshan of Baba Vishwanath.

Our correspondent reports that the construction work of the first phase of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham has been completed at a cost of Rs.3 billion 39 crores. The project is spread over an area of five lakh square feet. Earlier this complex was only three thousand square feet.

During the inauguration ceremony, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this holy day has come under the guidance and inspiration of the Prime Minister. He said that earlier the reconstruction of Kashi Vishwanath temple was done by Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar.
The Chief Minister said that when Mahatma Gandhi came to Varanasi, he had also dreamed of making Kashi clean and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made this dream come true.
