Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several big announcements while addressing ISRO scientists in Bengaluru today. He said that the place where Vikram Lander and Rover Pragyan landed on the Moon’s surface will be named as ‘Shiv Shakti’ Bindu. The place where Chandrayaan-2’s lander crashed will be known as Tiranga Bindu. He said that Shiva contains the resolution for the welfare of humanity and ‘Shakti’ gives us the ability to fulfill those resolutions.
He said that the Tiranga Bindu would be a reminder that failure is not the end of anything but a lesson to work hard and succeed in the future. The Prime Minister announced that August 23 would be celebrated as National Space Day. On this day ISRO’s Chandrayaan mission created history by landing near the south pole of the Moon.
He saluted the hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and tenacity of the scientists. He said that ISRO scientists have taken India to the moon by blowing conches in space. The Prime Minister said space technology has brought transparency in governance, playing a key role in planning and monitoring the progress of government projects. Along with this, it also helps in locating mineral deposits, weather forecasting and disaster management.
