PM Modi will open the 306-km New Rewari-New Madar segment of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor today. This information comes from Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Tuesday. The opening of the event will take place virtually through video conferencing.
PM Modi will also flag off the world’s first 1.5-km long-haul, double-stack container train operated by electric traction from New Ateli-New Kishangarh.
The governors and CM of Rajasthan and Haryana, along with the railway minister Piyush Goyal, will be present on the occasion.
The New Rewari-New Madar portion of the WDFC is based in Haryana (approximately 79 km in Mahendragarh and Rewari districts) and Rajasthan (approximately 227 km in Jaipur, Ajmer, Sikar, Nagaur and Alwar districts). It consists of nine newly-built DFC stations.
The opening of this segment would help the numerous industries in the Rewari, Manesar, Narnaul, Phulera and Kishangarh areas of Haryana and Rajasthan as well as the best use of the CONCOR container depot at Kathuwas. This portion would also ensure smooth access to the western ports of Kandla, Pipavav, Mundhra and Dahej in Gujarat.
