PM Modi to inaugurate Delhi Metro’s first driverless train

India will soon end its first driverless metro train in December with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging it off on the Delhi Metro Magenta Line.

The train will be on the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden section of the Delhi Metro Rail Company (DMRC). It is believed that the driverless trains would run on the Magenta Line and finally on the Pink Line, which were made as part of Phase III of the DMRC.

In September 2017, the Delhi Metro began testing its new ‘driverless trains’ on the 20-km section of the Pink Line. Notably, the line has yet to be commissioned back then. Tests were performed to test the automation of new metro trains fitted with Unattended Train Operations (UTO) and CBTC (Communication Based Train).

The new driverless trains have undergone several technological upgrades and are equipped with several advanced features. To increase passenger comfort, many additional features have been added to them. The DMRC trains are designed for a maximum speed of 95 kmph and an operational speed of 85 kmph.
