A three-day alert has been declared by the state police in the wake of political killings in Alappuzha district in Kerala. Additional police force is being deployed in the stressed areas. No procession will be allowed in the state for three days.
Two politicians were killed in Alappuzha district during 12 hours. Social Democratic Party of India-SDPI Secretary of State K.S. Shaan and the OBC of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Morcha’s state secretary Ranjit Srinivasan was murdered, following which the administration imposed prohibitory orders in the district.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has said in Kochi today that the investigation of the state government in this matter is not enough. Nityanand Rai will visit the house of slain party worker Ranjit Srinivasan in Alappuzha today.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as well as leaders of other political parties in the state have condemned the killings.
