President Ram Nath Kovind will participate in the 50th Victory Day celebrations of Bangladesh this morning. He will inspect the national parade contingents in Dhaka to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence. He is the only foreign representative to attend the ceremony.
A contingent of all the three armies comprising 122 members of the Indian Armed Forces will also participate in the parade to mark the occasion. In the freedom struggle of Bangladesh, the Indian Army and Mukti Bahini jointly participated in the war against Pakistan. Both countries celebrate 16 December as Victory Day.
Later in the evening, Mr. Kovind will also attend the birth centenary celebrations of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the guest of honor.
Briefing reporters in Dhaka last evening, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that in the delegation level meeting, the President discussed various topics of mutual interest with the President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid.
