According to a study conducted in Asian patients, if remdesivir is given to patients within nine days of the onset of symptoms of Kovid-19, it can reduce the death rate. Researchers from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) found that treatment with remdesivir within nine days of the onset of symptoms of COVID-19 resulted in a lower death rate in Asian patients who took corticosteroids, the study said.
“The results showed a clear difference in survival for patients who received treatment with remdesivir,” said Takeo Fujiwara, senior author of the study.
Fujiwara said, “Hospital ICU patients who were given remdesivir and corticosteroids within nine days of symptom onset had a significantly lower mortality rate than patients who were treated with remdesivir 10 or more days after the first symptom developed.” The death rate was relatively high in those that started.”
