The case was reported on a woman’s complaint in Sarita Vihar that a man allegedly forced her to convert her religion for marriage and later raped her, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
It was also alleged that the accused had concealed his true identity and used to live in her house as a tenant, they said. According to the police, a complaint was received on Monday when the woman, a resident of Sangam Vihar, came to the Sarita Vihar Police Station and handed over her complaint.
It was alleged that one Sahib Ali, alias Rahul (20), lived in her house as a resident. He took her one day to Ali Vihar, where she met many of his family members, including his father, his mother, his brother, his uncle, and his brother-in-law, a senior police officer said.
A couple days later, she was taken to her parents’ home, where she had a sexual interaction with her without her permission, the officer added.
She also stated that Hazisunnala, the father of Sahiba Ali, had also touched her improperly and had tried to sexually attack her, they said.
In the lawsuit, the accused was also said to have married her and then coerced her to convert her faith. Her medical examination was performed and a case was brought before the IPC Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 366 (kidnapping, kidnapping or forcing a woman to induce her marriage), 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to offend her modesty), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intent) was reported at the Sarita Vihar police station.
