Security forces on Wednesday released sketches and photographs of suspected terrorists in connection with the terror attack in Pahalgam. Several people, including several tourists, were killed and many others injured in the attack on Tuesday.
Investigating officials have identified three terrorists as Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha, whose code names are Musa, Yunus and Asif. These suspects are also linked to the terror incidents in Poonch. Officials have prepared these sketches with the help of survivors.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organisation of Pakistan-based banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The terrorists suddenly opened fire on the tourists at Baisaran, 6 km from Pahalgam.
According to security sources, five to six terrorists wearing military uniforms and kurta-pyjamas came from the surrounding dense forests. They were carrying advanced weapons like AK-47. Intelligence inputs have revealed that these included terrorists from Pakistan who had recently entered the valley.
Investigative agencies have named senior Lashkar terrorist Saifullah Kasuri alias Khalid as the main conspirator of this attack. After the attack, security forces have launched a massive search operation in which helicopters have also been deployed.
The terrorists used sophisticated weapons and communication equipment. Some even recorded the attack using helmet cameras and body cameras. According to eyewitnesses, two terrorists were speaking Pashto language, which indicates that they are Pakistanis. Investigation has revealed that the digital footprints of the terrorists are linked to Muzaffarabad and Karachi in Pakistan, which confirms a cross-border terror plot.
