In a major success, the security forces on Sunday gunned down three terrorists in an encounter in Zadibal area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, said the officials while adding that the operation is still underway.
The officials said that the Indian Army, the CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir police had launched a search operation in the Zadibal area of the city after they recieved specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the region.
Two terrorists killed in the encounter were identified as Shakoor Farooq Langoo, Shahid Ahmad Bhat of Semthan Bijbehara while the identity of the third terrorist is yet to be ascertained, the police said while adding that they were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM/ISJK.
“As per police records, one of the killed terrorist namely Shakoor Farooq Lango was involved in the killing of two BSF personnel at 90ft road in Soura on May 20, 2020 and the snatched AK rifle belonging to the martyred BSF jawan was recovered from the site of encounter,” the J-K Police said.
