In Haryana, several leaders have revolted against the Congress party after not being given election tickets. After losing his ticket from Bawani Khera in Bhiwani, Master Satbir Ratera, along with former MLA Ramkishan from Bhiwani, filed nominations as independent candidates. Chitra Sarwara, daughter of former minister Nirmal Singh from Ambala Cantonment, also left the Congress and filed her nomination as an independent candidate. Vijay Jain from Panipat-Rural has also filed his nomination as an independent.
Former mayor of Hisar, Gautam Sardana, submitted his nomination as an independent candidate. Former MLA and finance minister from Nalwa, Sampat Singh, resigned from Congress, and Rohita Rewari, who had joined Congress after leaving the BJP, also left the party after being denied a ticket and filed her nomination as an independent from the Panipat Urban seat.
Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Tigaon, Faridabad, Lalit Nagar said, “I had invited all of you thinking I would perform a ‘havan’ and then go to file my nomination as the Congress candidate. But some of our enemies conspired and attempted my political assassination.” Lalit Nagar was a ticket hopeful from the Tigaon assembly seat, but Congress has fielded a new candidate, Rohit Nagar, from this constituency.
