In a landmark achievement in women’s cricket, Smriti Mandhana has become the first Indian woman to score a century in a Test match on Australian soil. Smriti completed her century in India’s first innings this morning on the second day of the first day and night Test match between India and Australia being played with the pink ball in Queensland.
The first day’s play was postponed after tea due to rain. By the time the game was stopped, the Indian team had scored 132 runs for one wicket. Mandhana and Shefali Verma made a strong start for India with a partnership of 93 runs.
The game had to be stopped twice due to rain and then the day’s play had to be called off due to bad weather.
