The government has told that so far 101 patients of Omicron have been reported in 11 states of the country. Giving information to reporters in New Delhi, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Lav Agarwal said that 32 people in Maharashtra, 22 in Delhi and 17 in Rajasthan have been found infected with the new variant Omicron.
He said that the Omicron variant has spread to 91 countries of the world so far and the World Health Organization has said that Omicron is spreading more rapidly in South Africa than the delta variant. He said that Omicron patients are increasing rapidly in Britain, Denmark, Norway and South Africa.
Shri Agrawal said that less than ten thousand patients of Covid-19 are being reported in India every day, but it is important that people should not hesitate in the fight against the pandemic.
NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said that a new phase of the Covid-19 epidemic is being felt in Europe, where the number of infected people is increasing rapidly.
