Sushant Singh Rajput was not murdered but committed suicide: AIIMS report

Doctors at Delhi’s AIIMS have claimed that the late Bollywood actor was not murdered but committed suicide.

The AIIMS forensic panel under Dr. Sudhir Gupta was formed at the request of the CBI in August to assist in giving medico-legal opinion in connection with the death of the late actor. According to AIIMS sources, the forensic team in its report has hinted the death of Sushant as suicide, thus rejecting the claims of ‘poisoning’ and ‘strangling’ made by the actor’s family and their lawyer.

A team of doctors from AIIMS told the CBI that the AIIMS panel has concurred with the opinion of the Mumbai hospital that carried out the autopsy of the late actor. The Mumbai hospital’s autopsy had found “asphyxia due to hanging” as the cause of death.

According to sources, the CBI is likely to probe the actor’s death as “abetment to suicide.” CBI sources have reported, “So far, no evidence has come up to prove it to be a case of murder. If during the course of investigation, we get any evidence, murder charge will be added. For now, abetment to suicide and other charges in the FIR are being probed.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment of June 14. The CBI registered a case on August 6 on the notification of the Centre after the Bihar government recommended for a federal agency probe on the complaint of the late actor’s father K.K. Singh.

The CBI team reached Mumbai on August 20, a day after the Supreme Court gave its nod for the federal agency probe. The CBI has so far recorded statements of several people, including Rajput’s ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty and others.
