UP Police arrest Muslim man for forcing Hindu girl to convert to Islam

Persecution and forced conversions of Hindu minor girls are on the rise not just in Islamic countries but also in India. Recently, following a Hindu girls’ cpmplaint in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, police have arrested a 28-year-old Muslim businessman, Faheem Ahmad under the new law, anti- conversion law for forcing her to convert to Islam.

“The woman in her lawsuit stated that she had known the accused for five years, and they had agreed to marry. But before the wedding, he forced her to convert to Islam and harassed her. We brought the case on the basis of her statement, in which she called Faheem Ahmed,” said SHO (Bilaspur) Brijesh Yadav.

Both Faheem and Mamta are living in Rampur. In her complaint to the police, Mamta claimed that she had worked in Delhi for more than five years, during which she had known Faheem and spoken to him by phone, but had hidden her religious identity. “About eight months ago, I realized he belonged to the Muslim faith, and my family had decided to marry him even after we found out. But he wants me to convert now. He also went to the temple to show that he was a Hindu… I’ve had to face a lot of shame in society because of this whole thing, after which I’ve had a mental health crisis, and I’m being cared for it. Faheem even sent me an affidavit, where he admitted his faults, but I declined to believe it.. Faheem has also given an affidavit to me, where he has accepted his mistakes, but I have refused to accept it,” Mamta wrote in her complaint to the police.

In addition to this, Faheem was also slapped sections 3 and 5 of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance. Also the Uttar Pradesh police have pressed charges of criminal intimidation (IPC section 506) against him.

A court sent him to judicial custody on Thursday.
