The polling process was held on Wednesday in all 70 assembly seats of Delhi, with voters casting their votes from 7 am to 6 pm. During this period, around 60.42 percent polling was recorded. The highest polling rate was recorded in North East Delhi at 66.25 percent, while South East Delhi recorded the lowest at 56.16 percent. Talking about other districts, Shahdara recorded 63.94 percent, North Delhi at 59.55 percent and North West Delhi at 60.70 percent.
A total of 699 candidates participated in this election, out of which 603 were male and 96 were female candidates. Prominent leaders include Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Atishi from Aam Aadmi Party and Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Ramesh Bidhuri from Bharatiya Janata Party. Devendra Yadav, Sandeep Dixit, and Alka Lamba from Congress also participated in the election.
Elaborate security and surveillance was put in place by the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in the capital. Strict action was taken against illegal use of voting material during the elections, with over Rs 236 crore seized since the announcement of the election. The election results will be announced on February 8, which will determine the next government in Delhi. Counting of votes will be held on Saturday.
