After a scuffle erupted in Cooch Behar, Central Forces had to intervene and resort to firing as the crowd went unmanageable during the polling. This resulted in four people dead on Saturday amidst the voting for the fourth polls. The Election Commission ordered adjourning the poll in Polling Station 126 of Sitalkurchi Assembly Constituency.
In another incident, BJP MPs Locket Chatterjee was attacked and some media persons too were attacked by TMC goons.
In phase 4 of West Bengal Assembly Election 2021, the voting is being held in seats spread over Howrah (9 seats), South 24 Parganas (11 seats), Hooghly (10 seats) districts in South Bengal, and Alipurduar (five seats) and Cooch Behar (9 seats) districts in North Bengal
Voters in 44 assembly across 15,940 polling stations were to decide in 44 assembly constituencies of West Bengal. The voting started at 7 am and will continue till 6:30 pm.. In 2016 assembly polls, the ruling TMC had lost on five of these 44 seats.
Bengal faced a big fight today with key candidates in phase 4 of West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 include Union minister Babul Supriyo, state ministers Partha Chatterjee and Aroop Biswas, BJP MPs Locket Chatterjee and Nisith Pramanik, and TMC turncoat Rajib Banerjee.
