World leaders have expressed deep concern and dismay at the situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said Afghan nationals fleeing neighboring countries may come to Europe to escape the Taliban. He said that Germany has to evacuate about ten thousand people from Afghanistan.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his country would continue to arrange for the evacuation of Afghans in distress, but the situation in Afghanistan was “very dangerous”.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that Afghanistan should not be allowed to become a haven for terrorists again.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has described the situation in Afghanistan as extremely difficult, and said that Western countries will have to make coordinated efforts to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a haven for terrorists.
