During the election rally in Mamata Banerjee’s Assembly constituency Nandigram on Thursday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath invoked the Kothari brothers to remind Banerjee of the state’s contribution to the Ram Mandir movement. The Kothari brothers were Kar Sevaks who had given their lives in support of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

CM Yogi slammed Banerjee for opposing the Jai Shri Ram slogan in the state, reminding her that people from West Bengal had participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. “The Kothari brothers were born only in West Bengal,” said CM Yogi.
“The Kothari brothers gave their lives for the Ayodhya Ram temple movement. In Ayodhya, there is a memorial to their sacrifice. Their dream of a Ram temple is being realized.
CM Yogi thanked the people of West Bengal for their generous contributions to the Ram temple construction.
Mamata Banerjee, according to CM Yogi, is only concerned with infiltrators in the state. He claimed that she did not even ban cow slaughter in the state for fear of losing her vote bank.
Former TMC stalwart Suvendu Adhikari, who will face Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram, accused her of insulting Hinduism in order to gain votes.

Adhikari, who called Banerjee “Begum,” recalled how the Trinamool Congress (TMC) used a Bangladeshi celebrity for election campaigning during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Adhikari said the TMC was an anti-national party, in a veiled reference to TMC leader Sheikh Alam’s statement about creating four Pakistans in the country.
